The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has disclosed that Sh600,000 was transferred from Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari’s bank account as detectives intensify investigations into his killing in Nakuru.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the DCI said investigators have linked the murder to a dangerous criminal gang believed to have been operating in Nakuru and nearby areas for several years.
Rev. Ndumia was attacked and killed on the night of May 3, 2026, at PCEA Tabuga Church in Nakuru North Sub County.
According to investigators, the suspects are connected to a gang first identified by detectives in July 2022.
The group is reportedly known for carrying out violent robberies while dressed in uniforms resembling those worn by security officers.
The DCI further stated that the gang has previously used a firearm during robberies.
Police recovered the weapon in 2024 during earlier operations targeting the suspects.
Detectives revealed that the same gang is also being investigated over another violent robbery that occurred on May 1, 2026, where Sh600,000 was transferred from a victim’s bank account to mobile phone numbers believed to be linked to members of the group.
Investigators now suspect the gang could be responsible for several violent robberies and attacks reported across Nakuru County in recent months.
The DCI said forensic experts are continuing with scientific examinations aimed at placing the suspects at the crime scene and strengthening the prosecution’s case.
Authorities assured the public that investigations are ongoing and promised to provide more updates as new findings emerge.
The agency also urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and cooperate with detectives by sharing any useful information that could assist the investigation.
