KDF Troops Conduct Civil-Military Outreach in Madagesi Village Under Operation Amani Boni

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops deployed in the Bura area under Operation Amani Boni (OAB) have conducted a Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) outreach in Madagesi Village, as part of efforts to strengthen ties with local communities while supporting ongoing security operations in the region.

According to an official statement by the Ministry of Defence, the exercise also included a Key Leader Engagement (KLE) involving community leaders and residents.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the outreach brought together KDF personnel, medical teams, local leaders and residents. Families received clean drinking water, food supplies and medical services during the exercise.

Health personnel also treated common illnesses, provided health education and attended to vulnerable members of the community, while water distribution offered relief to households affected by persistent shortages.

Official statements indicate that the troops are deployed under Operation Amani Boni to support security efforts in the area, including protecting the LAPSSET Road Security Project.

KDF commanders said the outreach reflected the military's commitment to safeguarding communities while also addressing humanitarian needs. They noted that building trust with local residents is an important part of promoting lasting peace and security.

According to the Ministry of Defence, village elders welcomed the initiative and said access to clean water and healthcare remains a challenge for many families in Madagesi Village. They expressed appreciation for the assistance provided and acknowledged the continued engagement between security personnel and the local community.

Operation Amani Boni is a multi-agency security operation launched to counter terrorism and improve stability in Kenya's coastal region, particularly in areas affected by insecurity.

According to official statements, KDF regularly combines security patrols with Civil-Military Cooperation programmes aimed at improving relations with communities through humanitarian support and community engagement.

The Ministry of Defence stated that the latest outreach demonstrates KDF's broader role beyond conventional military operations by combining security responsibilities with humanitarian assistance. 

Officials said such engagements are intended to foster cooperation, strengthen public confidence and support long-term stability in communities served under Operation Amani Boni.
