Moses Kuria Predicts The Party Kang'ata Will Use To Defend His Seat In 2027 After Dumping UDA Party

Former Senior government adviser Moses Kuria has intensified political speculation surrounding Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang'ata after suggesting that the county boss could abandon the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party before the 2027 General Election.

Speaking publicly about the growing debate, Kuria claimed that Kang’ata has already shown signs of distancing himself from UDA, although he has not openly declared the political vehicle he intends to use in future elections.

According to Kuria, Kang’ata has been honest to some extent by expressing dissatisfaction within the ruling party, but he has allegedly avoided revealing his full political plans.

The former Cabinet secretary argued that many Kenyans can already see indications that the Murang’a governor is gradually moving away from the party associated with President William Ruto.

Kuria stated that the bigger concern is Kang’ata’s silence regarding the political direction he intends to take once he exits UDA.

He insisted that elected leaders should be transparent with the people who voted for them instead of keeping important political decisions secret.

The outspoken politician said that if Kang’ata has indeed made up his mind to leave the ruling party, then he should openly tell the public which party he plans to join ahead of the next election cycle.

His remarks have further fueled speculation about possible cracks within the Kenya Kwanza coalition as political realignments continue to emerge ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Analysts believe that dissatisfaction among some leaders within UDA could trigger fresh alliances, especially in the politically influential Mt Kenya region.

Kang’ata has recently attracted attention because of his criticism of some government policies and his growing independent political posture.

Although the Murang’a governor has not officially announced plans to quit UDA, his recent political statements have sparked debate about his long-term relationship with the ruling party.

Political observers say Kuria’s comments may also signal wider internal tensions within Kenya Kwanza, where leaders are increasingly positioning themselves for future political survival.

The debate surrounding Kang’ata comes at a time when several politicians from the Mt Kenya region are being linked to possible alternative political formations ahead of the next election.

Opposition leaders and government critics have also intensified efforts to influence the region, which remains one of the country’s most critical voting blocs.

Despite the speculation, Kang’ata has yet to publicly respond to Kuria’s latest remarks or confirm whether he plans to remain in UDA as the country slowly shifts focus toward the 2027 political contest.
