President Ruto Congratulates Samuel Nyagah After Winning UDA Ticket for Ol Kalou By-Election

President William Ruto has officially congratulated Samuel Muchina Nyagah following his victory in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations for the upcoming Ol Kalou Constituency by-election scheduled for July 16, 2026.

In a statement issued after the nomination exercise, President Ruto praised the process as free, competitive, and democratic, describing it as evidence of growing political maturity and internal democracy within the ruling party.

The Head of State commended Nyagah for securing the party ticket after what leaders described as a tightly contested race involving several aspirants seeking to represent UDA in the strategically important Nyandarua County constituency.

Ruto also acknowledged the nine other candidates who participated in the nominations, saying their involvement strengthened the party’s democratic culture and demonstrated respect for transparent political competition.

According to the president, the peaceful conduct of the nomination exercise reflected UDA’s commitment to fairness, party unity, and grassroots participation in leadership selection.

“I congratulate Samuel Muchina Nyagah for emerging victorious and wish him success as he carries the party flag in the upcoming by-election,” Ruto said in his message.

The president further urged UDA supporters and local leaders in Ol Kalou to remain united behind the party’s candidate as preparations begin for the by-election campaign.

He emphasized the importance of cohesion and collective support in ensuring the party retains strong political influence in the constituency while advancing its development agenda at the grassroots level.

Political analysts say the Ol Kalou by-election is likely to attract national attention due to its significance in testing UDA’s popularity in the Mt. Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The contest is also expected to provide an early indication of shifting political dynamics within Nyandarua County, where parties are increasingly positioning themselves for future political battles.

UDA leaders who accompanied Nyagah during celebrations after the nomination exercise described him as a strong grassroots mobilizer capable of uniting voters around the party’s agenda of economic transformation and service delivery.

They called on residents to participate peacefully in the electoral process and urged supporters to avoid divisive politics as campaigns intensify in the coming weeks.

Opposition parties are also expected to field candidates in what could become a highly competitive race with broader political implications beyond the constituency itself.
