What Oburu Has Been Spotted Doing in Kisumu After Speculation About His Health

The ODM party leader appeared in a video shared on social media, confirming he is in good health and currently in Kisumu.

Not in a hospital. Not receiving treatment abroad. He was on a golf course, relaxed, spending time with friends entirely unbothered by the noise his absence had created.

"Thank you for your concerns about my whereabouts. I am here in Kisumu, up and about, playing golf, and I want to wish all of you a very happy weekend," he said.

The two weeks of silence had already set off a chain reaction. Oburu's absence from key party events, including the ODM retreat in Mombasa, fed speculation that moved fast across social media.

Claims surfaced that he had been flown out of the country for medical treatment. Others questioned whether he could still effectively steer ODM heading into 2027.

ODM moved quickly once the pressure reached a certain point.

Party Communications Director Philip Etale addressed the press in Nairobi, stating that Oburu had personally authorised him to speak.

He dismissed every report questioning the party leader's health as false and went further confirming that Oburu would make a public appearance on Saturday at the alma mater of his late father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

That location is not a random choice. It is ground that carries the full weight of the Odinga legacy.

"The reports that he is unwell or missing are not true. He is okay," Etale said.
