Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his criticism of President William Ruto, alleging that the head of state has resorted to underhand methods in a bid to battle him.
He claims that Ruto is now backing efforts to disrupt his political engagements through hired groups, after all his attempts to silence the DCP leader flopped.
Speaking during an interview on Kameme TV on Monday, Gachagua claimed that the repeated interruptions of his rallies and meetings—particularly across the Mount Kenya region—are not random incidents but part of a coordinated strategy.
He argued that these actions are intended to weaken his growing political influence, after Ruto was unable to silence him through impeachment and denying him political venues by intimidating religious leaders.
“We disagreed with Ruto over the efforts to divide the mountain, and that is why he has taken me out of the office," he claimed.
"His initial mission was to intimidate the churches to host me, but the churches replied that the church is free to all. Ruto is funding the politicians to hire goons to interrupt our meetings."
The former deputy president went on to claim that the alleged interference involves a wider network, including political allies of the government and, in some cases, elements within the security apparatus.
He suggested that these efforts are meant to stall his mobilisation efforts and intimidate his supporters.
Gachagua also criticised the National Police Service, accusing it of losing independence and operating under political influence.
He specifically mentioned Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah as figures he believes are linked to the alleged interference.
Gachagua maintained that he will continue his nationwide tours, insisting he remains committed to engaging citizens and strengthening his political base ahead of the next election.
