Planned Fuel Demos Receive Major Boost As Senior Politicians Join Hours To Tuesday

Leaders aligned with the Linda Mwananchi faction within ODM have declared plans to hold a three-day protest in June, pointing to rising concerns about poor governance.

Siaya Governor James Orengo, a prominent member of the group, said the demonstrations will run from June 24 to 26, coinciding with the anniversary of the June 2024 Gen Z-led anti-government protests.

Orengo noted that the faction is committed to pushing for change, cautioning that the protests could disrupt normal activities across the country.

He criticized President William Ruto’s leadership, arguing that the current administration has let Kenyans down and should not remain in power.

He added that the movement is prepared to take decisive action in demanding accountability and reforms.

He also stressed that members are undeterred by possible arrests or threats, saying they are willing to face any consequences in their quest for what they term national liberation.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino supported the stance, stating that the group draws inspiration from former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

He described the planned protests as part of a “fourth liberation” effort focused on revitalizing the economy and improving governance.
