"We've to Counter Him" Matiang'i Calls for Action Over Claim Ruto's Camp is Collecting Voter Cards

Jubilee presidential candidate Fred Matiang'i has called for urgent action over an alleged scheme to rig the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a rally in Makuni, Matiang’i accused allies of President William Ruto of collecting voter cards from members of the public in exchange for money.

He claimed the move is aimed at manipulating the electoral process in favor of the incumbent.

“Wakora wa Ruto wananunua kadi wanataka kuiba kura, wananchi tutawaambia kitu ya kufanyia hao watu hivi karibuni,” said Matiang’i.

This loosely translates to, "Ruto's allies are collecting voter cards, they are planning to steal election. Kenyans, we will soon announce to you what to do to deal with those people."

The remarks come as the United Alternative Government coalition rolls out a five-day ‘Ukombozi Tour’ across Lower Eastern Kenya. The tour kicked off with a series of engagements in Makueni County.

During the event, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka urged residents to attend the rallies in large numbers, emphasizing the importance of public participation in the political process.

The five-day tour is part of Kalonzo’s broader strategy to consolidate support in the Lower Eastern region, widely considered a key political base for his camp.
