Prof. Manyora Alleges Why President Ruto Should Be Scared Of Orengo, Claims He Is a Political Game Changer

Prof. Herman Manyora has urged President William Ruto to handle Siaya Governor James Orengo with caution, describing the seasoned politician as a “political game changer” whose bold and defiant approach could significantly disrupt political plans ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking in an Exclusive Interview on his Official YouTube channel, Manyora portrayed Orengo not simply as a county governor, but as a powerful figure who excels in opposition politics and skillfully uses historical grievances to influence outcomes.

“Orengo is no ordinary politician,” Manyora explained.

“He has the heart of a revolutionary. He observes protocol and shows respect when the President visits his county, but once the cameras are switched off, he reverts to his true nature as a fierce challenger of the existing order. That is why Ruto should be wary of him because Orengo has the ability to completely reshape the political landscape by raising national concerns.”

Manyora’s comments come shortly after President Ruto’s important development tour of the Nyanza region, which included a visit to Siaya County on March 24, 2026.

During the event, Ruto and Governor Orengo publicly agreed to put aside their political differences and concentrate on delivering services to Kenyans.

“We have agreed with James Orengo to work for Kenyans,” Ruto stated.

“‘Wantam’ or ‘tutam’ will be decided by Kenyans, but for now, let us work together.” Orengo, in response, welcomed the President and stressed the importance of joint efforts on infrastructure and economic development.

However, Prof. Manyora believes the apparent truce is only temporary and strategic. He argues that beneath the friendly gestures, Orengo continues to operate as a shrewd tactician who has repeatedly positioned himself as a strong critic within the opposition.

The Siaya Governor has in the past used harsh language against Ruto’s government, including accusations of “kleptomania” and doubts about the President’s suitability for office, while maintaining strong ties to ODM structures amid ongoing speculation about possible political shifts.
