United Opposition Demands Immediate Resignation Of UDA Secretary General, Reason Revealed

Former Attorney General Justin Muturi has asked Hassan Omar to resign from his position as Secretary General of the United Democratic Alliance.

This comes after claims of financial mismanagement within the ruling party.

In a statement released on April 23, 2026, Muturi said there were serious concerns raised after an internal audit was carried out.

According to the findings he referred to, some employees within the party did not send money that had been deducted from their salaries to the required government bodies.

These deductions included payments meant for the Social Health Authority and the Housing Levy.

Muturi said the situation is worrying, especially because such deductions are required by law. He explained that more than 60 million Kenyan shillings cannot be properly accounted for, which raises serious questions about how the party is handling its finances.

He also expressed disappointment, saying it does not look right for a party that supports these policies to fail in following them internally.

In his view, this sends a bad message to ordinary citizens who are expected to obey the same laws without fail.

Muturi went further to say that failure to send these deductions is not just a small mistake but a criminal offence under Kenyan law. He believes that leaders must take responsibility when things go wrong, especially when it happens under their watch.

He pointed out that leadership is about being accountable and facing issues directly, not ignoring them.

According to him, trust from the public can only be maintained when leaders practice what they expect from others.

At the same time, Muturi criticized the government, saying there seems to be unfair treatment. He questioned why citizens are pushed to follow strict rules while some leaders appear not to do the same within their own systems.

These remarks have added more pressure on the UDA leadership, as more people begin to ask questions about how the party is being run and whether proper systems are in place to ensure transparency and accountability.
