Shock as MP Claims Pickup Delivered ‘Full Load of Bodies’ to Secret Mass Grave in Mukurweini

Mukurweini Member of Parliament John Kaguchia has sparked nationwide concern after claiming that a mass grave exists in his constituency where several bodies were secretly buried after being transported at night in a pickup truck.

In a series of social media posts shared on Saturday, March 28, 2026, the legislator alleged that the incident occurred earlier in the week and raised questions about the handling and disposal of bodies originating from a health facility in the region.

According to Kaguchia, the bodies were allegedly moved under unclear circumstances from a health centre located in Kieni Constituency before being transported to Mukurweini, where they were reportedly buried during the night.

The MP said the operation was conducted discreetly and involved only a handful of local labourers who were allegedly hired to carry out the burial.

“Monday, 23rd March at 7pm a white pick up arrives at Mukurweini with a full load of bodies allegedly from a local health centre in Kieni Constituency,” Kaguchia wrote in one of the posts.

He further claimed that the burial was carried out in secrecy under the cover of darkness.

“The bodies were buried in the thick of the night by the help of a few local labourers who have disclosed the information,” he added.

Kaguchia said the claims raise several troubling questions that authorities must urgently address, particularly regarding the origin and handling of the bodies.

Among the issues he highlighted were the source of the bodies, the reason they were allegedly transported to Mukurweini, and how long they had been kept in the hospital before the burial.

“Important questions now linger: Where are all the bodies coming from? Why are they being disposed of now? How long were these bodies held in the hospital?” the MP posed.

He warned that the allegations could point to a worrying trend across the country involving secret burials and poorly documented disposal of bodies.

“In a new phenomenon where mass graves are now dotting the country, Mukurweini becomes the new mass grave site,” Kaguchia claimed.

The allegations have sparked anxiety among residents in the area, with some calling for an immediate investigation to establish whether the claims are accurate and whether any laws were violated in the alleged burial.

Local leaders and residents have also urged the relevant authorities to verify the claims and provide clarity on the matter to avoid speculation and panic.

The development comes at a time when the government is already dealing with another controversial mass grave case in Kericho County.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen confirmed earlier on Saturday that six individuals had been arrested in connection with that case and that investigations are ongoing.

Murkomen said the Kericho incident involved the secret burial of bodies in circumstances that did not comply with legal procedures governing the disposal of human remains.

“I must say here that what happened is not acceptable. There was a court order for disposal of unclaimed bodies… It was not supposed to happen in darkness,” he stated.

According to the Interior CS, preliminary investigations revealed that the number of bodies buried in the Kericho case exceeded those authorised by the court for disposal.

“We have now established that the bodies are more than the ones that the court had ordered,” Murkomen said.

Autopsies conducted on some of the exhumed bodies in the Kericho investigation have indicated varied causes of death, including illness and injuries.

However, investigators have not ruled out the possibility of foul play in some cases as forensic examinations continue.

Murkomen assured the public that authorities are committed to ensuring accountability and that anyone found responsible for violating burial procedures or the law will face prosecution.

“People will be charged according to the law,” he said.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding Kaguchia’s claims about Mukurweini, but pressure is mounting for investigations to determine whether a mass grave indeed exists and to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged burial.

If confirmed, the revelations could deepen concerns over the handling of unclaimed bodies in health facilities and mortuaries across the country.

For now, residents and leaders alike are awaiting clarification from investigative agencies as questions continue to swirl around the alleged midnight burial in Mukurweini.
